Construction cooperative Familienheim Mittelbaden eG opts for climate-friendly energy solution from GETEC

Magdeburg /Achern, 6 September 2021. With the building cooperative Familienheim Mittelbaden eG, GETEC was able to convince a new customer of its climate-friendly energy solution Green eHeating, The building cooperative operates in the Mittelbaden region and manages a portfolio of 2,350 apartments. Of these, old night storage heaters will be replaced with modern GETEC Green eHeating heaters in 434 apartments in the towns of Kehl and Achern. This will enable annual CO2 savings of more than 2,000 tons of CO2. A contract to this effect was recently signed by the partners.

With Green eHeating, GETEC has developed a concept that enables the real estate industry to make a cost-neutral switch to a climate-neutral and sustainable energy supply. The system also enables significant CO2 savings to be achieved in existing properties, thus making an enormous contribution to climate change. Old storage heaters are replaced by new, digitally connected and controllable storage heating systems that are charged with regeneratively generated energy on sunny and windy days. All storage heaters are networked via our partner's IoT platform and the energy flows in the virtual power plant are optimized to make efficient use of the load and storage capacity of the systems.

After Dawonia, Baugenossenschaft Familienheim Mittelbaden is the second member of GdW Bundesverband der deutschen Wohnungs- und Immobilienunternehmen to take advantage of Green eHeating. GETEC had entered into a cooperation with GdW to implement sector coupling via Green eHeating.

"We are very pleased to have gained such a future-oriented partner from the cooperative sector for Green eHeating in the Baugenossenschaft Familienheim Mittelbaden eG. We are united by the common goal of creating affordable and socially acceptable as well as climate-friendly living space. With GETEC Green eHeating, we are creating a solution that is not only low risk, but also increases the value of the property - without additional costs. At the same time, we save an average of up to five tons of CO2 per apartment per year. That's climate protection and sector coupling at its best," explains Michael Lowak, Segment CEO Real Estate at GETEC Group.

Siegbert Hauser, speaker of the board of directors of Baugenossenschaft Familienheim Mittelbaden eG: "GETEC's offer came just at the right time for us. We are currently examining our entire housing stock in order to achieve sustainable CO2 savings. The cooperation with GdW has encouraged us to implement the proposed measures together."

"We are working flat out on innovative solutions to implement the energy turnaround in an affordable way for tenants and socially oriented housing companies. The cooperation with GETEC is an important building block on the way to our goal of tenants and building owners working together to make housing increasingly climate-friendly with the help of decentralized and digital climate protection projects," says Axel Gedaschko, President of GdW.

Currently, more than five million storage heaters supply over 1.4 million households with heat in Germany alone. The average age of these storage heaters is over 20 years, resulting in low efficiency, continuously rising energy costs and little comfort for tenants. GETEC's offer comes with no installation costs in return for a 15-year heat-as-a-service contract and includes all necessary services such as hardware disassembly and installation as well as operations management, maintenance and billing.
